Recovery in Christ
...a note from Jim & Rhonda...
We are blessed as always that God continues to send new people to us. The Christmas and New Year seasons are wonderful yet somewhat difficult for alcoholics and addicts.
We usually have a candlelight meeting this time of year and this year is no different. To say that these meetings are special would be an understatement. The anticipation of a meeting filled with the Holy Spirit is special in itself. The candlelight setting brings about a peaceful and serene atmosphere that allows a person to be in touch with his or her innermost feelings. Having masked those feelings for years with drugs or alcohol, it is important to be able to feel again. Being able to feel again allows us to understand what a special feeling God's love can make in our lives and frees us of the baggage that weighs us down.
Rhonda is the chairperson for these meetings and she picks out a song or two to help invite the Holy Spirit. This time of listening helps to create an atmosphere to get in touch with yourself and with God. The flicker of the candle reminds me of our lives. We are brighter at certain times in our lives than other times. It is much easier to go through the brighter times than the dim times of the flicker, but it takes both to appreciate the difference. It is our prayer that this New Year will allow your brighter times to overshadow the dimmer ones and that we will be blessed in all our ways!
Yours in Christ Always,
Jim and Rhonda
